The Experience
Consultation:
After booking your session, I like to start by having a brief consultation to discuss your expectations for the session and to answer any questions you may have. We will discuss color coordination for newborn sessions, maternity dresses, outfits, outdoor session locations, etc. This is the time to plan the session so the day of the session will go smoothly and I can bring your vision of your session to reality. Consultations can be done by email, Facebook (preferred), or phone.
Locations:
Studio Sessions - Newborn and Sitter sessions are the only session done in studio. These sessions are done in studio in order to use my collection of handmade outfits I make and props. These sessions require additional equipment that I have on hand in my studio.
Outdoor Sessions - We aim for all our outdoor sessions to be held during golden hour (the hour before the sun sets). This is to provide you with the best photographic light and consistent styling for your session. We have a few locations to choose from depending on the over all feel you are after, however Petya Hatch Photography reserves the right to have the final approval on any locations so that they are always consistent with our style.
** We will always try to work with the best possible weather, and if rain is predicted we will look to reschedule your session for a mutually agreeable date.
Time:
Newborn sessions are done within 10-14 after your baby is born. At that age they are still sleepy and we can get all those cute curly poses. That is the recommended time frame for newborns. After that they tend to be more awake and aware of their surroundings.
Maternity sessions are recommended to do between 30-33 weeks. I recommend doing maternity sessions earlier on in the pregnancy in case we need to reschedule due to the weather. It is also easier on Moms to do the session earlier as later on in the pregnancy they can become uncomfortable and the session may be harder on them physically. We also want to avoid missing the session entirely due to an early arrival of baby.
What to bring:
Newborn and Sitter Sessions - I have a very large collection handmade outfits. I make all my own knit bonnets, hats, headbands, outfits, wraps, and toys. I have spent years knitting my own creations to be able to offer every client a unique session with exactly what they want. I also try to make a unique item to use for each session. I have hundreds on items in my studio, so you do not have to bring a thing. I have you covered. If you have any specific items you would like to bring from home to use for baby's session, you are more then welcome. I just ask that you let me know, so I can plan it into your session ahead of time.
Maternity Sessions - I like to offer my moms-to-be a large selection of maternity dresses and gowns to use for their session. I am constantly adding new dresses to my collections so I have just the right dress for every client. You can see my dress collection on my information page. I also have head pieces, halos, and flowers available upon request.
Family and Senior Sessions - I can always help if you need assistance with coordinating outfits for your session. I like to tell clients to try to avoid clothing with patterns or designs, as they tend not to photograph well. Feel free to bring any props that you would like to use and always feel free to discuss your vision with me in case I can bring something as well.
After the session:
A couple days after your session you will receive a proof gallery with all the best images from your session. The proof gallery will let you create a favorite list of the images you would like me to edit for your final gallery. You are welcome to select more images than what is included in your package and those will be invoiced separately. The proof gallery will also let you leave notes on specific images if you have any requests for me to do in the editing process. Once you have made your final choices, share the gallery with me and I will begin the editing processing. Three weeks after you share your favorite list, I will send you a final gallery with your edited images. You will be able to download the images at that time. The final gallery will also have a product store where you can purchase any prints, canvases, or other products.
